LAFC snaps winless streak with 2-0 victory over New York Red Bulls at BMO Stadium

LOS ANGELES — Jude Terry and Armindo Sieb scored the goals as Los Angeles FC defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-0 on Wednesday night at BMO Stadium, ending a six-game winless streak in MLS regular-season play.

Seventeen-year-old homegrown midfielder Jude Terry opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Son Heung-min cut inside, drove toward the end line, and forced a near-post save from Red Bulls goalkeeper Ethan Horvath. Terry reacted first and tapped home the rebound from the top of the penalty area for a 1-0 lead.

Sieb, the 23-year-old forward signed from Bayern Munich in mid-August, entered as a second-half substitute for Jacob Shaffelburg in the 60th minute. In the sixth minute of stoppage time (90+6), he finished a left-footed shot from outside the box into the top corner, assisted by Ryan Hollingshead, to seal the result. It was Sieb’s first MLS goal after making his club debut in a 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake the previous weekend.

Hugo Lloris recorded his league-leading 12th shutout of the season with a single save. LAFC improved to 11-7-7 and remained perfect when scoring first this year (11-0-2). The Red Bulls fell to 7-11-6 and extended their own winless run to six matches.

The result gave LAFC a much-needed boost at home as the season enters its final stretch. Terry’s poise as a teenager and Sieb’s clinical late strike provided the decisive moments on a night when the Black and Gold controlled the key attacking sequences.
